Down sizing? Is it two words, one word or a four letter word?
My BFF works for a billion dollar company. Billion, I don't remember how many zeros that is. Anyway, the company wanted to purchase an allotment of my books to give to the kids at their annual Kid's Christmas. I was pumped and looking forward to autographing all the copies.
Well, today I received the phone call from the billion dollar executive, no books, no candy, no toys, no apples, no oranges, etc. etc. will be provided by the billion $$$$ company for the kids because they are down sizing in their Christmas cost!
Okay, forget the books. But what about the kids? Two employees of this billion $$$$ company have to provide their own Santa and Mrs. Claus outfits. The other employees were asked to make and donate cookies for the Kid's Christmas party. Oh, and the time was changed to the evening so the employees would not have to be away from their desks, in order to keep this Billion $$$$ company going. Sad, very Sad.
My feelings about Christmas lean towards the birthday party we should be throwing for Jesus Christ who was born on that day. Kids make the Christmas for me. It does not take much to put a smile on a child's face. Yes, seeing Santa and Mrs. Clause will either make the child smile, laugh or scare the heck out of them and cry.
What scares me is the down sizing in the Christmas spirit. Does it matter the size or cost of a gift, it's the thought that counts to me.
